COMPLETE DIVISION III ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA TEAM

Tim McCrary has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-America Men's Basketball Team for Division III. The team captain has helped lead Wheaton to a 19-5 overall record this season and the team is ranked 22nd in this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 poll.
McCrary is a Business and Economics major and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.54. He leads the Thunder in scoring with 18.3 points per game and averages a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game. McCrary has shot 53.7% (158-294) from the field this year with 3.1 assists per game and 1.6 steals per game.
McCrary is a two-time All-American for the Thunder with 1,658 career points, 863 rebounds and 391 assists. He is fifth in Wheaton history in both assists and rebounds and has the eighth-highest point total in school history. He is just the third player in Division III history to score at least 1,600 points, grab 800 rebounds and dish out 350 assists in a career.
Through the years, 47 Wheaton student-athletes have earned a total of 61 Academic All-American selections through the prestigious program. Since 2000 there have been 37 Academic All-American selections from Wheaton.
McCrary is the fifth player from the Wheaton men's basketball program to earn the honor, joining
Nate Frank (1994-95);
Jon Nielson (2004-05), Michael Fiddler (2006-07) and
Kent Raymond (2007-08 & 2008-09). Additionally; McCrary is the fifth Wheaton student-athlete this academic year to earn Capital One Academic All-America selection. He joins
Jaime Orewiler (Women's Soccer);
Drew Golz (Men's Soccer);
Scott Roche (Football) and
J.J. Clark (Football).
The Capital One Academic All-America program honors student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level in athletics and in the classroom. Members of the eight First Team Academic All-District squads in each Division advance to the national ballot, where they have the opportunity to be selected for the ESPN Academic All-America Team. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA; a 2,000-plus member organization consisted of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III, NAIA and junior colleges covering all NCAA championship sports.
