Four Wheaton student-athletes earn All-Region honors in cross country

Wheaton, Ill. –
The Wheaton cross country teams have placed four total representatives on the 2012 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Midwest Region Team. Three members of the Thunder men's cross country earned All-Region recognition, with one performer from the women's cross country team. To earn All-Region recognition, a student-athlete must finish in the top-35 at one of the eight NCAA Division III Regionals.

Wheaton junior James Waterman earned All-Region honors at the Midwest Regional in Winneconne, Wisconsin last Saturday with a time of 24:40 on the 8K course to finish in eighth place. James' brother,  Jake Waterman finished 10th with a time of 24:47 to earn All-Region recognition. Senior Mark Phillips (PICTURED LEFT) was an All-Region performer on Saturday with a 29th-place finish in 25:12. The trio will help represent Wheaton this Saturday when the team competes at the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships at Terre Haute, Indiana.

Thunder sophomore Emma Gilbertson (PICTURED RIGHT) earned All-Region recognition from the USTFCCCA. Gilbertson finished 22nd in 22:33 on the 6K course at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Regional in Winneconne, Wisconsin last Saturday.
