Luke Vance and Renee Bettinger earn All-American honors at final day of NCAA-III Track Nationals

Renee Bettinger earned All-American honors in the women's 100-meter dash

Delaware, Ohio -
 Six Wheaton student athletes competed at the three-day 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships that began on Thursday at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.  Renee Bettinger earned All-American accolades on Saturday in the women's 100-meter dash and sophomore Luke Vance earned All-American recognition in the men's 800-meter run. Both Bettinger and Vance earned their All-American honors by virtue of finishing in the top-eight at Nationals in their respective event.

SATURDAY RECAP
Renee Bettinger finished eighth in the finals of the women's 100-meter dash on Saturday to earn her first career All-American honor. Bettinger, the Wheaton record-holder in the event posted a time of 12.31-seconds to finish eighth in the finals. The event was won by Methodist College's Ashlynn Chavis in 11.84-seconds.

Luke Vance
Sophomore Luke Vance achieved the first All-American recognition of his career with an eighth-place finish in the finals of the men's 800-meter run on Saturday afternoon. Vance posted a time of 1:54.72 in the finals on Saturday. The event was won by Nick Guarino of Fredonia State in 1:49.89.

FRIDAY RECAP
Renee Bettinger, qualified for Saturday's finals in the women's 100-meter dash. Bettinger posted a time of 12.23-seconds in the prelims of the 100-meter dash that was the eighth-fastest time of the 24 competitors. The top eight runners qualify for Saturday afternoon's (3:10 PM EDT) finals in the event. Bettinger was .02-seconds ahead of the ninth-place runner's time of 12.25-seconds to earn her spot in the finals.

Sophomore Luke Vance finished eighth in a field of 19 qualifiers on Friday night in the prelims of the men's 800-meter run. Vance posted a time of 1:51.40 in the event, qualifying for Saturday's eight-man finals with a time that was .09-seconds faster than the runner in ninth-place. The finals for the 800-meter run is scheduled for 3:20 PM EDT on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Sara Greeley finished 15th on Friday night in the finals of the 22-woman field for the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Greeley recorded a school-record time of 10:55.64 in the event. 

THURSDAY RECAP
The top Wheaton performance on Thursday came from sophomore Parker Thompson in the men's 1,500-meter run. Thompson finished 14th of the 19-man field with a time of 3:58.35. Thompson narrowly missed making the 12-man finals of the event on Saturday by less than one-second.

Senior Tiffany Overlien closed out her tremendous career with a 22nd-place finish in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Overlien recorded a team of 1:03.59 in the 23-woman field of Thursday's prelims.

Junior Jaime Orewiler competed in the women's 1,500-meter run posting a time of 5:08.88 as she finished in 22nd-place in the preliminary round of the event.
