Wheaton College’s Jaime Orewiler honored as NSCAA Division III Player of the Year

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College senior Jaime Orewiler has been named the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Women's Soccer Player of the Year. Orewiler is the fourth player in school history to be recognized as the Division III Player of the Year, joining: Jessica Elsen (2004); Laura Koontz (2006) and Taryne Lee (2007).

Orewiler earns the Player of the Year award in a senior season that also saw her earn her second consecutive NSCAA First Team All-American selection. A two-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Year, Orewiler scored 15 goals, with 16 assists this season. She helped lead Wheaton to the National Championship match with five goals and four assists in Wheaton's six postseason matches.

Veteran Wheaton head coach Pete Felske says of Orewiler's accolade, “It is nice to see Jaime recognized for her talent and effort. She is a difference-maker who has proven herself time and time again against some of the best teams in the country.” He adds, “She loves Jesus and has always given Him the glory. She is a very special young lady who is humble and unassuming. Jaime has always served her teammates through a quiet leadership.”

In her four seasons at Wheaton, Orewiler registered 48 career goals with 31 assists. She is seventh in the Wheaton career record books in goals, seventh in assists and sixth in total points. Orewiler is a French and Mathematics double-major at Wheaton, twice earning Capital One Academic All-American recognition for her effort on the pitch and in the classroom.

Wheaton posted a 23-2-2 record this season and won the CCIW Championship with a 6-1 league record. The Thunder won the 2011 CCIW Women's Soccer Tournament to win the CCIW's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, where the Thunder finished as the Division III Runner-Up.
