Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton College head women's golf coach Dr. Jay Martin has announced that Sarah L. Moore of Greenwood Village, Colorado has decided to attend Wheaton College beginning in the Fall of 2010 with plans of playing for the Thunder women's golf team. Moore, whose brother Steven Moore will be a junior on the Thunder men's golf team this fall, is the lone newcomer joining the Thunder this fall.
She joins a Thunder women's golf program that has been ranked in the Top 25 of NCAA Division III golf in every poll since October 2007 and will serve as host of the CCIW Conference tournament at Cantigny Golf in Wheaton this fall.
Sarah helped lead her high school team to a state championship in the spring of 2010 and earned trips to the Colorado Class 5A State Tournament all four years. Martin mentions of her, "She is used to playing golf at the highest level and her personality is perfect for handling the pressure of competitive golf.”
Martin notes, “I am glad to have Sarah joining her brother Steven here at Wheaton this fall. She is an outstanding golfer, excellent student, and will be a wonderful teammate. Her Arapahoe High School and Colorado junior golf careers have prepared her to have an immediate impact on our golf program as a freshman.” He concludes, " Sarah is part of an outstanding golf family. Both her father Kent (Purdue) and mother Janet (University of Arizona) played in college and have been inducted into the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame, and Steven is a two-time All-CCIW golfer heading into his junior year this fall.”
