Wheaton water polo wrap up Chatham Invitational

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Wheaton College water polo team wrapped up action at the two-day Chatham University Invitational on Saturday.

The first match of the day came against rival Carthage College as the Lady Reds won 11-7. The score stood at 5-4 Carthage at the half, but three unanswered goals in the third period turned the lead into an 8-4 advantage.

Wheaton got two goals each from Emma Higgins and Kathryn Sheehy and one goal apiece from Jessica McGee, Heather Crockett and Morgan Sorenson.

The Thunder picked up a victory in the second match 12-6 over Chatham. Wheaton got a quick 4-0 lead and held the hosts at bay the rest of the way. Emma Higgins scored four goals, Emily Bellfi and Crockett scored twice, and the trio of Sheehy, Sorenson and Caroline Hannema tallied one goal each.

In the final match of the night, the Wheaton vs. Macalester College score had not yet been reported. Updates from this match will occur as they are made available.
