Wheaton, Ill. – Five Thunder student-athletes will be representing Wheaton this weekend at the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. Senior David Larson will compete in the men's pole vault when competition begins at 6 PM (EDT) on Thursday. Larson posted the 12th-best height of the 17 competitors that were selected to the field. He posted his qualifying height of 15' 10” on May 15 at the “Augustana Twilight Qualifier”.
Wheaton will have two competitors in 19-woman field of the women's javelin throw when it begins at 1 PM (EDT) on Thursday. Senior Brandi McNeil will be competing at Nationals in the event for the fourth time in her career. Her school-record toss of 165' 4” on March 27 at Washington University's “Mini Meet” was not only the top throw in Division III this year, but the fourth-best throw in Division III history in the women's javelin throw. Senior Stephanie Solari qualified in the javelin for the second consecutive year. Solari's qualifying throw of 135' 6” came on April 18 at the “Wheaton Twilight Meet”.
On Friday, senior
Michelle Cameron will be running in the trials of the women's 800-meter run. The finals of the event will be on Saturday at 3 PM (EDT). Cameron qualified with the 10th-best time in the 19-woman field, recording an effort of 2:12.23 on May 8 at North Central's “Dr. Keeler Invitational”.
Senior
Lisa Baumert will among 18 entrants in the women's 5,000-meter run a 4:20 PM (EDT) on Saturday. Baumert qualified on May 7 at North Central's “Dr. Keeler Invitational” with a school-record time of 17:09.84 that was the 10-th best qualifying time in the field.
