Athletic Hall of Honor Inductees

Founded in 1976, the Wheaton College Athletic Hall of Honor is dedicated to helping preserve and strengthen the Wheaton College athletic program which prepares Wheaton College students for responsible Christian citizenship. Wheaton recognizes athletics as an integral part of the educational program of the college. Wheaton athletes learn valuable lessons in discipline, sacrifice, perserverance, cooperation, and commitment to a cause.

Beyond these ordinary benefits derived from athletic participation, the Wheaton athletic experience focuses on a means to vitally express one's faith in God. This special dimension of athletics at Wheaton places high demands on every participant, requiring the deepening of personal faith and commitment to achieve excellence through integration of faith and athletics.

The Hall of Honor cites not only singular athletic achievement but also distinctive personal qualities and Christian attributes. Wheaton athletes so honored have demonstrated, both on campus and in succeeding years, the worth of athletics with well-defined goals, mature leadership and commitment to God. The significant contributions of Wheaton College athletes to family, church, science, education, government and business supports these principles.

The Hall of Honor serves to identify individuals who have distinguished themselves and who bring honor to the Wheaton athletic program and the God whom they love and serve. The example the Hall of Honor members demonstrate is an encouragement and a challenge to those both outside and within the college.

The guidelines for selection are as follows:
Individual athletes shall be inducted to the Athletics Hall of Honor during Homecoming of the 15th anniversary of their graduation from Wheaton College. The minimum criteria for nomination are:
-    Receiving a recommendation of the nominating Wheaton College Head Coach.
-    Achievement of (or selection to) All-American status.
-    In the absence of achieving personal All-American status, an athlete may be nominated as the “Coach’s Choice” for the four-year cycle in which his/her graduation occurred.
