Wheaton, Ill. – Kyle Johnson of the Wheaton Thunder men's soccer team has been named as one of 42 recipients of 2022 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships for fall sports. The NCAA has selected 21 females from all three NCAA Divisions and 21 males representing fall sports. Johnson is the first Wheaton student-athlete to receive a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship since Favor Ezewuzie of the Wheaton women's track and field team received a scholarship in 2022. Wheaton, Ill. -- With the 2025 NCAA soccer seasons coming to an end, United Soccer Coaches has announced this year's All-Region Teams for the Division III men's game. After helping lead Wheaton to its second-straight CCIW regular season title, four Thunder student-athletes have garnered All-Region honors from the organization for their strong performances this fall. Goalkeeper Jack Krahel and forward Luke Vander Kolk have been named to the Region VIII First Team, while defender Wes Seneff has earned a place on the Second Team and midfielder Craig Rusin has picked up Third Team recognition. The Thunder earned the top seed in this year's competition and secured a first-round bye into the semifinals, while the fourth-seeded Vikings defeated Carroll University in a dramatic 1-0 overtime win in last weekend's quarterfinal in Chicago. Wheaton, Ill. -- With the 2025 regular season concluding this week, the CCIW announced its annual All-Conference men's soccer teams on Friday, recognizing the standout players and coaching staff from the fall campaign to date. After securing this year's CCIW regular season title, the Wheaton program saw five of its student-athletes named to the All-CCIW First and Second Teams, with two of these players earning individual awards. Jack Krahel was named the CCIW Goalkeeper of the Year for the first time in his career, marking the third-straight season that Wheaton has been represented by the award recipient. Fellow senior Wes Seneff was voted the conference's Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year, becoming the first Thunder player in program history to receive the award. Wheaton, Ill. - In the regular season finale, the Wheaton men's soccer team hosted the North Central Cardinals, with both sides unbeaten in conference play entering the match. The Thunder had already secured the regular season title with their 7-0-0 record and were set to host a conference tournament semifinal regardless of the outcome. Still, there was much on the line, as North Central entered riding an eight-match unbeaten streak against Wheaton dating back to 2017. Tonight's contest ended in a 2-2 draw, with all four goals coming in the first 45 minutes before both defenses locked in for the second half. Waukesha, Wis. -- After reeling off six-consecutive victories in conference play, the Thunder men's soccer team traveled north to Wisconsin on Wednesday night knowing that a seventh league win would see it clinch at least a share of this year's CCIW regular season title. Wheaton got the result it was looking for with a 2-1 victory at Carroll University, and coupled with Illinois Wesleyan's draw at North Central, tonight's outcomes were enough to see the Orange and Blue clinch a second-consecutive regular season trophy and a record-extending 22nd title for the conference's most successful men's soccer program. Wheaton's win streak stands at eight games, and the team now owns an overall record of 11-2-3, matching the squad's highest number of wins in a season under head coach Steve McCrath.
