Steve McRoberts compiled a career record of 75-14 in the heavyweight division for the Crusader wrestling team. As a freshman, McRoberts was 15-3 with six falls, won the CCIW title and the MacMurray and North Central Invitational championships. Steve earned All-American honors as a sophomore, placing fourth at the national tournament and finished the season with a 29-2 record. He also led Wheaton with 12 falls and won the Dawson Trophey for most points. He also won the CCIW, MacMurray and Wheaton Invitational championship. As a junior, Steve was 18-2-1, led Wheaton with seven falls and again won the Dawson Trophy. He was named Most Outstanding Wrestler at the MacMurray Invitational, and won the Knox and Olivet Invitationals. Due to injury, McRoberts missed the 1977 CCIW Championships. McRoberts was 13-7 as a senior, and won his third CCIW title and his fourth MacMurray Invitational title.
