A two-time national qualifier for the Wheaton wrestling team at 184-pounds, Sean Collins earned All-American honors as a senior in 2003 with a fifth-place finish at the Division III Championships on the campus of Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. A two-time CCIW Champion at 149-pounds, Sean earned conference championships as a junior in 2002 and again as a senior in 2003. He was named the "Most Outstanding Wrestler" at the 2003 CCIW Championships. He represented Wheaton at the prestigious Midlands Championships in 2002 and 2003, competing against some of the top wrestlers in America.
Sean recalls of his time on the mat for Wheaton, "I learned about work ethic and teamwork. Wrestling is an individual sport with a team component. You do your best to benefit the team, but you have to be willing to push, pursue and work individually. I had my teammate and best friend Dave Hirt with me and together we pushed each other to achieve more than we dreamed for ourselves. Those years of hard work together have stuck with me all my life as I now coach and pass along those ideas to light fires in my athletes."
