Mike Easterling came to Wheaton as a basketball player and was a reserve on the 1957 NCAA Championship squad. He discovered soccer as a sophomore and emerged as an outstanding goaltender for the Crusaders. He recorded nine shutouts in his career and allowed only 1.3 goals per game. In his first competitive season as a soccer player, Easterling was a First Team All-Conference selection and an Honorable Mention choice on the All-Midwest squad. Mike concluded his career by achieving All-American status for both his junior and senior seasons.
