Matt Field competed in both cross country and track & field during his athletics career at Wheaton. He stood out as one of the team's strongest leaders and used his athletic and leadership ability to unify the team to strive towards collective athletic excellence. He won the CCIW conference championship in the Steeplechase, accomplishing the second-fastest time in Wheaton track history at the time, running the 3,000-meters in 9:21. Matt was also an All-American in Cross Country as he ran a time of 25:09 to finish in 31st place at the 2007 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Northfield, Minnesota. At the 2005 CCIW Cross Country Championships, Matt led a group of Wheaton runners that placed second, third and fourth, respectively, which allowed Wheaton to come within two points of winning the CCIW Championship.

Thinking about his time at Wheaton, Matt writes, "I learned that success and accomplishment are more enjoyable when shared with friends and loved ones. I also discovered that consistent training could help you achieve goals that once felt out of reach, as all the progress adds up over the years." Since graduating with a degree in Business/Economics, Matt continues to run, setting personal bests in the 1500 meters and 5k, and now as a cyclist, training with his former coach
David Walford, Matt is the reigning Illinois State Champion in the Masters Division in Cyclocross. Matt and his brother own a family business, Itasca Plastics located in St. Charles, Illinois. He and his wife Rebecca (Oliver) Field (class of 2011) have four children, Rachel (age 7), Claire (age 5), Wilson (age 4), and Mary (one-year-old).
