As a decathlete for the Wheaton Crusader track and field team, Mark Wilhite achieved numerous accomplishments. Wilhite was an NCAA Division III All-American in 1985, a three-time Division III Championships qualifier, three-time Chicagoland Championships decathlon champion and twice the CCIW decathlon champion.
Mark notes regarding his time as a decathlete, “The most important lesson that I learned was the fact that in the decathlon over the course of the two days and ten events, I was bound to have a bad event. When I experienced that, how I dealt with the bad event, and whether or not it carried over into the next event was critical to the success of the whole decathlon. I have felt that lesson has carried over very well into life. The Bible is clear about that - 'In this world you will have trouble'. But, how you trust that God is in control, and He is at work, even through the hard 'events' is critical to my life as a child of Christ."
