Marilyn Scribner joined the Wheaton faculty in 1961, and became Assistant Professor in 1966; Associate Professor in 1978; and full professor in 1990. She provided teacher education and taught individual and team sports courses and was a published author of books and articles on self-defense, bowling, and sports and recreational activities.
She coached Wheaton’ volleyball team from 1961-1983; the women’s softball team from 1968-83 and the women’s basketball team from 1970-75 and served as basketball assistant coach in 1975-76. The 1979 volleyball team finished second in the State Tournament.
"My responsibility as a coach was not only for the physical skills of the players, but to the players and fans as well in terms of teaching responsible Christ-like behavior toward the opponent, coaches, and officials,” says Scribner.
