Linda Petrie Gulbransen is Wheaton’s field hockey career scoring leader with 71 goals and was named team Most Valuable Player for three seasons. She missed her senior year due to a serious knee injury. Linda scored a school-record 28 goals as a sophomore and was named Most Outstanding Player at the State Tournament. As a junior tri-captain, she scored 26 goals and made the All-State team.
Linda also made a large impact on the women’s basketball team during her time at Wheaton. Upon her graduation, she ranked high in Wheaton’s career record books for points, free throws, steals, field goals and assists. Linda received the Ruth Berg Leedy Excellence in Education Award from the Wheaton physical education faculty in 1982-83.
