Lewis McGill, a 1931 graduate, had strong athletic careers in both football and basketball for the Crusaders. In football, he was a tough defensive player, good blocker and pass receiver. In basketball, he was a strong defensive player, good rebounder and scored well from the guard position in an era when forwards and centers did most of the scoring. Lew was the captain of the 1930 football team.
