Kelly Pierucki Snavely Induction Video
Kelly (Pierucki) Snavely was a slugging third baseman for the Wheaton softball team in the early to mid 1990s. The three-time All-Conference player broke and still holds numerous offensive school records. Her career records include 30 home runs, 143 RBI, 122 runs scored and a .785 slugging percentage. In 1993, her .895 slugging percentage ranked third in NCAA Division III.
Over her career, Pierucki hit for a .390 batting average and also ranks high in school history with a .488 on-base percentage (second), 41 doubles (second) and 145 hits (fourth).
“An extremely meaningful lesson I learned at Wheaton, both in athletics and elsewhere, is the importance of living in community,” Pierucki said. “I am thankful for the foundational Christian community that I was fortunate to be a part of both on the softball team and within the greater Wheaton student body.”
Pierucki also singled out former coaches and mentors who were instrumental in her college life. “I was privileged and honored to be coached by Grant Sherman,” she said. “He was unfailing in his ability to be gracious to a pretty diverse group of women. Also, Beth Baker and Marilyn Scribner were special mentors and especially encouraging in my years at Wheaton. I’m thankful for their leadership and friendship.”
Kelly has previously worked in nursing in a number of settings including hospital, outpatient, public health and managed care. She is currently at home full time with her husband Mark and four kids in Ohio – Grace, Susanna, Clara and Peter.
