Joel Kolmodin was named the 2002-03 CCIW Player of the Year as a junior and was also selected as a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-American that season. He was a two-time D3hoops.com First Team All-American (2002-03 and 2003-04).

In 2002-03 Kolmodin scored 522 points and his season average of 23.2 points per game ranked 10th in program history at the time. He averaged a "double-double" that season with 10.1 rebounds per game.

As a senior in 2003-04, Kolmodin averaged 17.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game as he helped lead Wheaton to a 21-4 record on the season.

The center averaged 17.2 points per game in his 75 career contests and 8.9 rebounds per game, playing in three full seasons with the Thunder. He is ranked fourth all-time in program history with a career average of 8.9 rebounds per game. He was 23rd on the career scoring list at the time of his graduation and is now 28th 1,292 points.
