Jim Lane was a prolific scorer for the Wheaton soccer team. As a freshman in 1969, he scored four goals; the next year, he had a team leading 16 goals, a new team record, and seven assists. In 1971, when Wheaton won the IISC, Jim scored 15 goals and had three-straight games in which he scored three goals per game. And for the third-straight year, Wheaton won the NCAA Mideast championship. In 1972, Jim again led the team in scoring, with 11 goals and six assists. He capped off the year by being named All-IISC first-team for the third-straight season. In his four years, Wheaton had a 40-9-3 record, and his 46 career goals are high on Wheaton’s all-time scoring list.
