During Jerry Snyder’s bright Wheaton career he led the Crusader football team to 28-6 record including an 8-1 record and CCI Championship as co-captain in 1953. Snyder was an imposing force as an offensive tackle and was a key element to Wheaton’s successful rushing attack in the early 1950s. As a freshman, he earned Honorable Mention on the All-CCI squad, and in each of the next three seasons, he was a CCI First Team choice. In 1953, at the conclusion of his senior football season, Snyder was named to the Little All-American team.
