Howard Moffett has the distinction of having scored the first goal in the history of the Wheaton soccer team in 1935, and was the team’s leading scorer for each of its first four seasons. He was the first to score a three-goal hat trick and scored 19 goals in 23 career games, including eight goals his senior season. In 1938, Howard was selected to eastern powerhouse West Chester University’s all-opponent team, giving him an automatic nomination for the All-American team along with teammate Ed McCausland.
In addition to soccer, Moffett played on the tennis team for four years, serving as team captain as a senior. He also played four years of basketball, the last three on the varsity.
