Greg Gorsuch came to Wheaton as a sophomore in 1973 and won the 1973 CCIW Championship in the 120-yard high hurdles and placed second in the CCIW in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. The next season, Gorsuch placed second in the CCIW in the 120 hurdles, third in the high jump and fourth in the triple jump, and capped off the season by winning All-American honors in the high jump with a leap of 6’7’’, good for second place at the NCAA Division III National Meet. After not participating for Wheaton in 1975, Gorsuch returned to Wheaton for the 1976 season. He placed second in the decathlon at the NCAA Division III Championships with a school-record 7,067 points, and a fourth in the high jump (6’8-1/2”), earning All-American honors in both events.
