George Rhodes was an All-American in both men’s soccer and track during his time as a standout for the Crusaders. He was a soccer Honorable Mention All-American in 1988 and collected Third Team All-American honors in 1989. He scored 21 goals as a senior, which was the fourth-highest single-season total in Wheaton history. His 11 assists that same season were also the fourth best single-season total in school history. When he graduated in 1990, his 45 career goals were the third-highest total. His collegiate soccer career ended with 108 total points, good enough to place him eighth in the total point rankings.
George’s athletic accomplishments also extended to his one season on the track team. As a runner, he was conference champion in two events and an All-American in the 400 meters. He set a school record in the 400 that still stands.
