Frances Barrett Swartz was a two-time team MVP during her career with the Crusader women’s basketball team. Barrett became the first Wheaton women’s basketball player to reach the 1,000 career point level. She currently stands ninth all time in career scoring with 1,119 points and fifth in career rebounds with 696 in 73 career games played. The Wheaton women’s basketball teams had a combined record of 59-33 during her four years.
Barrett notes of lessons learned from her time playing basketball at Wheaton, “During my career at Wheaton, I feel that I learned that participating in athletics is a gift from God which must be daily surrendered to Him. I learned this through several injuries and found that basketball was most enjoyable when I made sure God was in first place.”
