In four seasons as the starting goalkeeper for the Wheaton men’s soccer team, Ed Palacio allowed just 49 goals in 53 games and recorded 16 shutouts. During his years, Wheaton was 42-6-5. Palacio was named Second Team All-Conference and All-Mideast Regional Tournament in each of his first three years, as Wheaton won the regional in 1968 and 1969. After his senior season, when he was a tri-captain, First Team All-Conference and All-Midwest Honorable Mention, he became the first Wheaton soccer player to be drafted by a pro team (third round by St. Louis Stars of the NASL), but did not sign.
