Ed McCausland was a member of Wheaton’s first varsity soccer team in 1935 and was a four-year regular for the Crusaders. In 1938, Ed was selected to eastern powerhouse West Chester University’s all-opponent team, giving him an automatic nomination for the All-American team along with teammate Howard Moffett.
Not a high scorer himself, Ed’s role on the team was as a play-maker. “Ed was very consistent and a good passer,” said his former coach Jim McKellin. “He would beat everyone to the ball and set up a lot of goals.”
