Ed Davies was an outstanding all-around football player for the Crusaders who was named to four-consecutive CCI All-Conference teams. Ed stepped in right away as a freshman to earn all-conference honors as a defensive back. As a sophomore, Davies moved to quarterback and linebacker while still earning all-conference recognition. Ed was named to the All-CCI team, the team MVP, had four touchdowns against Illinois College and ran back four punts for scores in 1952 as a junior. As a senior, Ed was named All-CCI for the fourth-consecutive year and was named to the Small College All-American team.
Ed also received four letters in baseball mainly as a pitcher and centerfielder. As a senior, Ed pitched a no-hitter against North Central College.
