Don Church, a 1957 graduate, had a strong playing career as a running back on the Crusader football team. Don was twice named to the CCIW All-Conference football team. He started in a very strong backfield for three seasons, and Wheaton won the conference title each year. Don had several exceptional games including, rushing for 101 yards against Millikin, scoring on a 53-yard run against Illinois Wesleyan, and gaining 99 yards against IWU.
