Dick Camp, a 1958 graduate, broke into the lineup near the end of his freshman year as a fullback. Dick scored some touchdowns right away and helped the team to a CCI Championship. Dick helped lead the team to another conference championship his sophomore season. In his junior year, Dick and the Crusaders finished the season one point shy of being undefeated. By the end of the season he led the conference in scoring and was 19th in the nation in point production. Wheaton also won its fourth conference title in a row. Elected as co-captain in his senior year, he led the conference in scoring with 12 touchdowns and 15 of 22 PATs, as well as in rushing yardage and was elected Little All-American. The Crusaders also won their fifth consecutive conference championship, sharing it with Lake Forest.
