Wheaton College Athletics

Del Nelson participated in football and men’s basketball during his time at Wheaton. Nelson was a talented running back for the Crusader football team and was a top player on the basketball team. A highlight from football occurred when Del scored a touchdown in Wheaton’s win over Milwaukee Teachers College 13-12 during his junior season. Nelson provided remarkable leadership as captain of the football team his senior year and in basketball, he was the team’s second-leading scorer and a starter.
