David Norbeck

David Norbeck is one of only three athletes ever to earn 13 varsity letters at Wheaton. Norbeck participated in football, basketball, track and baseball while a Crusader. All 13 teams that he lettered on posted winning records. On the football team, Norbeck played defensive end and fullback and was known for his good hands. Norbeck started at guard on three basketball teams that won 45 of 60 games and was a key reserve on the 1946-47 team that finished with a record of 20-5. He was a strong point getter for the track team as a sprinter while doubling in the spring with the baseball team. As a sophomore, Norbeck led the baseball team with a .352 average.
