Dan Henderson is one of the premier cross country and long distance track runners in Wheaton history. Over 30 years after he graduated in 1980, he still holds seven school indoor and outdoor marks and won the NCAA Division III cross-country title as a junior and finished 10th in the Division I meet. While a collegian, he won both the NCAA Div III 5,000 (record time) and 10,000 meter runs and finished fourth in the 1,500 as a freshman. His Wheaton bests have yet to be touched in the Indoor Mile (4:03.9), 2 Mile (8:39.9); Outdoor 1,500 meters (3:46.9), 2 miles (8:55.8), 5,000 (13:50), 10,000 (19.23.2), and Marathon (2:25.28.) After graduation, he continued to compete, ranking eighth in the U.S. in the 5,000 and once posted the 25th fastest time in the world at that distance.
