Chad Thorson immediately made an impact on the Crusader Ffootball team in the fall of 1986. As a linebacker, he led the team in tackles with 89 along with three quarterback sacks his freshman season. The next season he increased the number to 103 total tackles with three quarterback sacks and a fumble recovery. His junior season ended with an impressive 129 tackles, including nine sacks and 69 solo stops. During the 1989 season, he was team co-captain, MVP, and earned All-American honors for his 116 total tackles, including four and a half sacks. He was voted First Team All-CCIW his last three seasons and won the CCIW’s “Don Larson Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award” two-consecutive years.
After graduation, Chad went on to sign pro contracts with the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts.
