Brian Koontz, a defender for the Wheaton men's soccer team was twice named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-American. He earned Third Team All-American recognition in 2002 and was a Second Team selection as a senior in 2003.
A four-time All-CCIW selection, he was a three-time First Team All-Conference pick and was named the CCIW Player of the Year in 2003.Additionally, Koontz was a Third Team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2002 and a First Team Academic All-American in 2003.
Koontz's 24 career assists ranked eighth in program history at the time of his graduation and is ranked 10th in the team's record book now.
In Koontz's four seasons at Wheaton, the program made four NCAA Tournament appearances and won 71.7% of its matches in that time. Wheaton was 21-1-2 in conference play in that time, winning 87.5% of its CCIW matches and four conference championships.
