Over the four seasons that Bob Whitehead was a member of the Wheaton men’s basketball team, the Crusaders put up a 107-12 record, including 58-straight CCI victories. Whitehead broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore on the NCAA championship club of 1957 and held down the position on three-successive tournament-bound teams. Whitehead’s 25 points in the 1957 national championship game earned him a berth on the All-NCAA Tournament First Team. Bob led the Crusaders in free throw percentage (82%) for three-straight years, hit 48% of 1,005 field goal attempts and scored 1,313 career points for a 13.5 career average. Bob was a two-time Little All-American selection.
