Albert Harris had a tremendous career as a member of the Wheaton football teams in the early 1960s. In 1961, Albie’s contributions led to a perfect 8-0 football record and a No. 7 ranking in the NCAA Small College poll. He was the team’s leader in touchdowns, with eight, and in rushing, with team highs of 529 yards in 114 carries. Albie again was the Crusaders’ top rusher during his junior season. His 576 yards on the ground and 119 carries led all Wheaton ball carriers in those categories and he scored seven touchdowns. His senior season he led the team to an 8-1 record, was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and earned Little All-American Honorable Mention status. The co-captain gained 909 yards in just 186 carries and scored six touchdowns. For his career, Albie gained 2,014 yards and scored 21 touchdowns.
