The 1981-82 Wheaton women’s tennis team finished third in the 1982 NCAA Division III National Championships. Under the direction of Coach Kaye Filkin, Wheaton was invited to nationals after defeating all 11 of its Division III opponents and winning the conference championship during the fall season.
Kim Ruuttila won the national championship at No. 2 singles and teamed with Lisa Barber Fowler to take second place at No. 2 doubles. Jane Nelson and Laura Lindstrom also reached the finals at No. 1 doubles. Ruutila, Nelson and Lindstrom were awarded All-America honors. In individual doubles competition, Nelson and Lindstrom made it to the finals.
