Thunder women's tennis team heads to NCAA-III Regional at DePauw University

–The Thunder women's tennis team will participate in a Regional of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship this weekend in Greencastle, Indiana. The Thunder will be competing in the six-team regional to be hosted by DePauw University. Wheaton (19-2) earned its spot in the postseason tournament by winning the CCIW Automatic Qualifier Tournament last weekend in Moline, Illinois.

Wheaton (19-2) will face Webster University (19-2) on Thursday in a First Round match of the tournament. The Wheaton-Webster victor will face DePauw (17-6) on Friday in a Second Round match. Thursday's other First Round match will feature Hope (18-7) playing Coe College (21-3), with the winner taking on Carnegie Mellon (21-3) on Friday in a Second Round match. The victors from Friday's two Second Round matches will play each other in a Third Round match on Saturday. The winner of Saturday's Third Round match will compete at the eight-team NCAA Division III Championship Finals beginning May 21 in Cary, North Carolina.

Wheaton will be making its eighth  appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Team Championship, and the program's fifth consecutive appearance. Wheaton's most recent appearance in the NCAA Championship was last year when the Thunder competed in a Regional, hosted also by DePauw. Wheaton was a 5-0 victor against Baldwin-Wallace in last year's First Round match and the Thunder bowed of the tournament in the Second Round in a 5-1 loss against DePauw.
