Four Wheaton baseball players earn All-Region honors from D3baseball.com

COMPLETE D3BASEBALL.COM ALL-CENTRAL REGION TEAM

Wheaton, Ill. –
Four members of the Wheaton College baseball team have been selected to the 2012 All-Central Region baseball team, selected by D3baseball.com. This is the first year that D3baseball.com has selected an All-Region Team; the website has had an All-American Team since 2008.

Trey Martin (PICTRUED ABOVE) earned First Team All-Central Region recognition at first base. Martin hit .365 (58-for-159) this season, with a team-best 11 home runs and 56 RBI. He tied for the team lead with 13 doubles and scored 32 runs. His 11 home runs and 56 RBI this season are both second on Wheaton's single-season records in each category.

Drew Golz
Drew Golz (PICTURED LEFT) earned First Team All-Central Region honors as a utility selection for his performance as both an outfielder and starting pitcher. Golz led the Thunder with a .404 (69-for-171) batting average this year. He scored 45 runs, with 27 RBI, 12 doubles and four home runs. His 69 hits this season is the third-highest single-season total in school history. On the mound, Golz posted an 8-2 record, with a 2.52 ERA in 85-2/3 innings Golz tossed eight complete games in his 10 starts this year, with 46 strikeouts. His eight victories this season is tied for Wheaton's single-season
record in the category.

Justin Swider
Sophomore Justin Swider (PICTURED RIGHT) was tabbed as a Second Team All-Region selection. Swider started every game at second base for the Thunder this season. He posted a .336 (49-for-146) batting average on the year, with 18 runs scored and 19 RBI. Swider was second on the team with six stolen bases and tallied six extra-base hits this season.

Ryan Miller (PICTURED BELOW) earned Third Team All-Central Region at shortstop. The four-year starter hit .383 (62-for-162) this season, with 45 runs scored and 19 RBI. He stole a team-best 16 bases and tied for the team lead with 13 doubles. Miller leaves the Wheaton program second on the school's all-time list with 225 career hits and he is also second on the all-time runs list with 174. He is second in career doubles with 46 and second in stolen bases with 50.
