Five members of the Wheaton baseball team earn All-CCIW accolades

Trey Martin
Wheaton, Ill. – Five members of the Wheaton College baseball team have been selected to the 2012 CCIW All-Conference baseball team. Seniors Ryan Miller and Drew Golz join junior Trey Martin (PICTURED RIGHT) as First Team All-CCIW selections. Senior Justin Zeller and sophomore Justin Swider were Second Team All-CCIW honorees.

Ryan Miller, a four-year starter for the Thunder, earned First Team All-CCIW honors in the infield. The Thunder shortstop hit .383 (62-for-162) this season, with 45 runs scored and 19 RBI. He stole a team-best 16 bases and tied for the team lead with 13 doubles. In conference play this season, Miller hit .318 (28-for-88) with eight doubles to his credit and 19 runs scored.

Drew Golz
Drew Golz, (PICTURED LEFT) earned First Team All-CCIW recognition in the outfield, his second consecutive All-Conference honor. Golz led the Thunder with a .404 (69-for-171) batting average this year. He scored 45 runs, with 27 RBI, 12 doubles and four home runs. In conference play, Golz hit .368 (32-for-87), with 16 runs, eight RBI and seven doubles.

Trey Martin earns First Team All-CCIW recognition as a utility selection for the second consecutive year. Martin hit .365 (58-for-159) this season, with a team-best 11 home runs and 56 RBI. He tied for the team lead with 13 doubles and scored 32 runs. Martin hit .308 (24-for-78) in CCIW play, with four home runs and 19 RBI. He scored 16 runs in league games and hit five doubles. In five appearances as a pitcher in league games this season, Martin posted a 0.87 ERA, in 20-2/3 innings, as he posted a 1-1 record with one save. He struck out 26 batters and walked just three in his five CCIW appearances.  

Justin Zeller
Senior Justin Zeller (PICTRUED RIGHT) earned Second Team All-CCIW accolades as an outfielder, earning All-Conference recognition for the second consecutive season. He hit .304 (41-for-135) for the Thunder this season, with five home runs. Zeller scored 39 runs this season and drove in 30. In conference games he posted a .270 (20-for-74) batting average with 18 runs and 15 RBI. He hit eight extra-base hits in league games.

Justin Swider
Sophomore Justin Swider (PICTURED LEFT) joined Zeller among the Second Team selections, earning an infield spot. Swider started every game at second base for the Thunder this season. He posted a .336 (49-for-146) batting average on the year, with 18 runs scored and 19 RBI. Swider was second on the team with six stolen bases and tallied six extra-base hits this season. In conference play, Swider hit .346 (27-for-78) with seven runs and seven RBI.
