Thunder runners compete at Dr. Keeler Invitational

Several members of both the Wheaton women's and men's track & field teams competed at North Central College's Dr. Keeler Invitational on Friday. No team scores were kept at the last chance meet, designed to give athletes an opportunity to qualify for the NCAA DIvision III Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 24-26 in Claremont, California.

Renee Bettinger
Senior Renee Bettinger (PICTURED LEFT) recorded two top-five finishes in women's sprint events. She posted a time of 12.10-seconds to finish third in the 100-meter dash and was fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.22-seconds. Jaime Orewiler finished sixth in the women's 800-meter run with a school-record time of 2:12.24 that is the 16th-fastest time in Division III this year.

The quartet of Britta Eastburg, Emily Schwaller, Debbie Knubley and Mali Langlie won the women's 4x400 relay in 3:53.18. Rosalie Dillon posted a time of 14.87-seconds in the 100-meter hurdles to take fourth place. Annie Shults recorded a time of 11:00.60 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to take fifth place.

James Waterman finished fifth in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:07.30 that is the 14th-fastest time in Division III this year, and the second-fastest time in school history. Luke Vance took sixth in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.87. Parker Thompson posted a time of 3:51.47 in the 1,500-meter run that put him in sixth place in the event.
