Greencastle, Ind. - The Wheaton College women's tennis team were eliminated from the NCAA Regionals after a second-round loss to DePauw University 5-1 on Friday.
The Thunder wrap up its season with an overall record of 20-3. The No. 8-ranked Tigers improved to 18-6.
DePauw surged ahead 2-1 after doubles play. Wheaton's No. 2 tandem of
Marissa Shults and
Melanie Milling earned a point with an 8-3 victory. The host Tigers later clinched the winning points in singles action, getting wins at positions No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6.
Senior
Elizabeth Worsowicz wrapped up her stellar collegiate career with a 25-3 mark in singles and a 21-8 record in doubles this year. For her career, Worsowicz was 84-22 in singles and 88-25 in doubles. She was also a three-time CCIW Player of the Year and earned All-American status in her freshman season playing with partner Jordan Hook in doubles.
