Kenosha, Wis. - The Wheaton College men's and women's swim teams lost a dual meet to Carthage College on Saturday, 149-111 on the men's side and 162-100 on the women's side.
The Thunder men earned a total of six event wins.
Wills Francis was part of three wins himself. He took the 200-yard backstroke in 2:03.24, and was part of a pair of first-place relays - the 200-yard medley relay (Francis, Placeway,
Hal Hackett,
Dan Nahigian) in 1:37.00 and the 400-yard freestyle relay (
Hayes Wilkerson, Francis, Walker, Nahigian) in 3:15.69.
Korey Clement came within a tenth of a second of his personal-best times in a pair of races, with a win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.02) and second place in the 500-yard freestyle (4:50.28).
Mike Placeway was the winner in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.01) while
Tim Walker added a victory in the 50-yard freestyle (22.51).
The Thunder women had a pair of event wins.
Moire Yue won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.81.
Carlie Herich and
Lauren Jurgens continued their dominance of the 500-yard freestyle, finishing first and second once again in a thrilling conclusion with times of 5:12.74 and 5:12.92, respectively.
Kelsey Craggett (PICTURED BELOW) also had a strong meet with a trio of runner-up finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard IM, and part of 200-yard medley relay.
Wheaton takes the next two weeks off competitively before hosting a three-team meet with Illinois Wesleyan University and North Central College on February 4.
