Orange, Calif. - The Wheaton College water polo team went 1-3 at the Chapman University Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
The Thunder ran its record to 5-6 on the season.
In Friday's first game, Wheaton lost 10-4 to Whittier College.
Heather Crockett tallied three goals while
Kathryn Sheehy added one goal.
The Thunder got back into the win column in the second match, defeating University of La Verne 9-7 in overtime. Wheaton scored five unanswered goals to take a 7-4 lead at halftime, but La Verne rallied to tie the game in the second half. In overtime, Sheehy and Allison Marshall scored to clinch the victory. Sheehy tallied three goals in the contest,
Emma Higgins totaled two goals while
Jessica McGee, Liz Akins, Crockett and Marshall scored one goal each.
In the third and final match of the day, Wheaton lost to host Chapman 15-10. The score was tied 7-7 at halftime, but Chapman took over in the third period with five goals. Sheehy scored five goals in the game, Higgins tallied three goals while McGee and Crockett totaled one goal each.
Saturday's match with Occidental College ended with a 14-6 loss for the Thunder. Occidental led 6-1 after the first period and increased its lead the rest of the way. Higgins, Sheehy and McGee scored two goals each for Wheaton.
