Brian Kolb named honorable mention preseason All-American by d3baseball.com

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College senior baseball player Brian Kolb has been named as a honorable mention selection at shortstop on the 2010 d3baseball.com Pre-Season All-American Team. Kolb was a First Team Pre-Season All-American selection by the same website in 2009, following First Team All-American honors in the 2008 season.

Kolb, a four-year starter, led Wheaton last season with a team-best .418 (66-158) batting average. He compiled the second-highest hit total in school history with 66. Kolb drove in 34 runs, scoring 46 times, the second-highest single-season run total in Wheaton history. He drew 25 walks, with a .505 on-base percentage.

In three seasons with the Thunder, Kolb is Wheaton's all-time hits leader with 198 career hits and is second on the school's all-time RBI list with 112 and second in runs scored with 116. Kolb currently holds the highest career-batting average in school history with a .456 (198-434) career mark at the plate. He also has the highest career slugging percentage (.647) and on-base percentage (.513) in school history. He is the program's all-time leader in doubles (37), is second in school history in triples (8) and sixth all-time with 38 career stolen bases.
