Wheaton women's golf wins North Central Cardinal Invite

Naperville, Ill. – With a strong showing by its top two golfers, the Wheaton College women's golf team won the North Central Cardinal Invitational with a team score of 350 on Tuesday.

St. Francis (Ill.) took second place five shots back at 355 in the one-day tournament. They were followed by Carthage (362), Elmhurst (368), Carthage B team (383), Augustana (390), North Central (392), Elmhurst B team (396), Aurora (415) and Benedictine (442).

The 10-team tournament took place at the par-72 Cress Creek Country Club with a field of 67 players. Brittany Bronson took medalist honors with an 83 and was followed in second place by teammate Casi Blanton, who shot an 85.

Other Wheaton team scorers included Rachel Beveridge, who tied for ninth place with an 89, Debby Bouzeos with a 93 and Kate Ryan with a 99.

The Thunder also brought four individuals, including Sarah Moore (92), Rachel Carlson (99), Ellie Moore (106) and Michelle Morency (115).

The Thunder will continue its fall schedule with the two-day Olivet College Invitational starting on Friday.
