South Bend, Ind. - The Wheaton College men's golf team is took fifth place out of 15 teams at the Bethel College (Ind.) Classic on Saturday.
The 15-team tournament was won by Marian College with a team score of 586. They were followed by Huntington College 599, Madonna University 604, Ohio Dominican University 604, Wheaton 607, University of St. Francis (Ind.) 618, Olivet Nazarene University 620, Bethel College 622, Spring Arbor College 628, Taylor University 637, Judson University, Grace College, Calumet College, Robert Morris University and Goshen College.
The Thunder men's golfers were led by
Chase Yacko (PICTURED), who shot 74-73-147 to take third place individually and was named to the All-Tournament team. His teammates' scores bunched together as
Dan Downey carded a 77-75-152,
Jonny Tink tallied 78-76-154,
Steven Moore added a 79-75-154 and
Greg Richardson scored an 80-76-156.
The Wheaton men's and women's golf teams are both playing this weekend tournament at Blackthorn Golf Club and the two teams won the combined title. They were followed by Bethel and Ohio Dominican in second and third.
"We shot 299 as a team, which is a very good score," Wheaton head coach Jay Martin said. "We had a solid performance today."
The Thunder continue play on October 6 at the Taylor Made/Adidas Collegiate Series Invitational in Coldwater, Michigan.
