Wheaton women's golf finish in fourth at Olivet College Invite

Marshall, Mich. - The Wheaton College women's golf team finished in fourth place in the two-day Olivet College Invitational on Saturday. 

Hope College won the 15-team invite with a two-round team score of 658. They are followed by Olivet (659), St. Francis-Indiana (674), Wheaton (693), North Central (713), Trine (715), Aquinas (721), Wittenburg (715), Carthage (730), Northwestern Ohio (735), Albion (756), Alma (781), Kalamazoo (792), Calvin (797) and Adrian (827). 

Olivet's Amber Conrad was the individual medalist at The Medalist Club course with scores of 74-77-151.

Wheaton's golfers are led by Casi Blanton, who finished in seventh place with a score of 83-81-164. With her top-10 finish, Blanton earned a plaque as part of the All-Tournament Team. Brittany Bronson carded an 89-81-170,Debby Bouzeos shot an 88-90-178, Kate Ryan shot 91-90-181 and Rachel Beveridge finished with a 92-96-188. Sarah Moore shot a 98-92-190 playing as an individual for the Thunder.

Wheaton head coach Jay Martin said the team is still building to get to back to the level they were at last season, when the program reached its first ever national tournament.

"We're not where we want to be, but we're showing progress with our finish today," Martin said. "We finished first among the teams in our region, so that's good. We know we can keep getting better."

The Thunder return to action on Sept. 22 at the Elmhurst College Lady Bluejay Invitational.
