Two of Wheaton's incoming freshmen have been featured in Sports Illustrated's “Faces in the Crowd” segment in recent weeks. 

Jonathan Tink (Waterloo, Iowa/Waterloo Christian) is planning on joining the Thunder men's golf program for the 2009-10 season. He comes to Wheaton after recognition as Iowa's Class 1A “Player of the Year” after winning the 1A title for the third season in a row.

Danielle Schmidt (Cottage Grove Minn./New Life Academy) will be playing for the Thunder softball team next spring. In helping lead New Life Academy to a State Championship she set a state tournament record for strikeouts (55). In the Quarterfinals she set a record for strikeouts in a game, with (32) and drove in the winning run in the 11th inning of the victory.
